Moving Picture Announces Winner of Short Film Award

Moving Pictures: Canadian Films on Tour is pleased to announce the winner of the Moving Pictures Short Film Award, Milo 55160, directed by Toronto filmmaker David Ostry, produced by Vancouver's Matthew Cervi, and distributed by the Canadian Film Centre’s Flow Distribution. The award was presented June 1st at the Closing Gala at Cinemark Tinseltown 12 Theatre. Milo 55610 is heaven's loneliest bureaucrat who embarks on a purgatorial odyssey for a missing boy in the afterlife.

The Moving Pictures Short Film Award comes with a $4,500 cash prize and becomes eligible for Genie consideration. The award was open to any independent short film produced in 2004 and included in the current Moving Pictures season.

The jury was composed of a panel of BC film professionals:

• Michelle Bjornson, Filmmaker

The gala celebrated a successful season of showcasing the best in Canadian independent film throughout Western Canada. At the Closing Gala, Moving Pictures screened It's All Gone Pete Tong, the award winning hip comedy about a deaf superstar DJ, distributed by Odeon Films, and hosted a party afterwards at Crush Champagne Lounge with DJ Dan Bacon.

It's All Gone Pete Tong opens in theatres June 10th.
